SITUATION
Russian
player has six objectives to defend and only one to take, Batumi, along the
south border on the Black Sea. Rostov is the nearest to enemy lines at the
beginning, and Don river doesn't help at all, as it's behind the city and not
before. The strategic map pictures the situation after the German A.I. player
has finished its first turn, during which Allies have suffered ten casualties,
six infantry, two tanks, one anti-tank and one fighter units. First turn
Russian casualties often range between five and thirteen, so ten is average.
The first
objective in Russian strategy is to get rid of German fighters, once this goal
is reached the battle will turn in favor of Mother Russia. Allies fighters are
very weak in comparison with Axis planes, so air defenses and anti-aircraft
units must be used instead. Playing German, Russian tanks are invincible. Now
playing Russian, German tanks are invincible. That’s how A.I. works. Don, Kuban
and Terek rivers must be used as defensive lines, enemy should not cross these
rivers, otherwise it will be much harder to push him back. Recon units must be
infiltrated behind German lines via naval transport to occupy enemy cities and
airfields.
Russian
first turn reaction is feeble, at Valuiki (6,8) a German artillery unit is
destroyed, while at Tiblisi (35,47) the 27° Panzer IIIJ is eliminated. Here's the complete combat list:
