05 - France - Allies - Turn 5 of 26

June 5, 1940: with the French outflanked the Germans drive into France, and attempt to capture Paris.

Axis: advanced a.i.
Allies: player

PLAN
Well, it's really too easy to win this scenario. The key is french tank Ch B1-bis, which is quite cheap (180 prestige points), very hard to beat for german tanks, and is deadly against soft targets. Purchase it in numbers and you've got nothing to fear. The german player in advanced A.I. mode will cross river Somme and attack trying to reach Paris, leaving Amiens and the other towns in his control unguarded. Cross the river at Abbeville, in the west, and attack Amiens with tanks. Take the town and the scenario is over.

TURN 1 - AXIS
In his first turn german player obviously attacks on all fronts. French units are quite hopeless, with no transports and face a grim fate. Anyway in this turn only an artillery unit in Reims is destroyed, the other are severely damaged.

TURN 1 - ALLIES
In the west, english units attack and destroy a mounted air defense. In the center, french units retreat to let the german units advance and leave Amiens poorly defended. In the west, units retreat towards Paris. Some infantry units are disbanded and eight Ch B1-bis tanks are purchased, along with two air defenses.
Casualties: Axis: air defense 1 - Allies: artillery 1.

TURN 2 - AXIS
German air units attack and have incredible success. Then land units follow. Five french infantry units and an artillery one are destroyed. Germans advance towards Paris. A PzIIIE is purchased in Amiens.

TURN 2 - ALLIES
In the west english units rush towards Amiens, they take Abbeville and occupy Amiens airfield. Two JU87 are taken down, they are the most dangerous air units. In the center, french tanks counterattack, destroying an artillery and an infantry unit.
Casualties: Axis: infantry 1 - artillery 2 - air defense 1 - tactical bomber 2
Allies: infantry 5 - artillery 2.

TURN 3 - AXIS
German units attack again. Amiens is reinforced, now there are five tanks to defend it. An english infantry unit is destroyed and a Hurricane.

TURN 3 - ALLIES
The french tanks in Beauvais slash the german defenses and push hard towards Amiens, destroying a tank and an infantry unit. .
Casualties: Axis: infantry 3 - tank 2 - artillery 2 - air defense 1 - tactical bomber 2
Allies: infantry 6 - artillery 2 - fighter 1.

TURN 4 - AXIS
German units fight until the last man. They destroy an artillery and two infantry units. The only tank unit which could be used to hold Amiens takes the airfield instead and so the fate is sealed.

TURN 4 - ALLIES
The massacre goes on. A german level bomber is taken down over Dieppe. A PzIIIE, a recon and an air defense are destroyed in Amiens, now the town is free from defenders. Another panzer is killed in the woods, and another one in Thierry.
Casualties: Axis: infantry 4 - tank 5 - recon 1 - artillery 2 - air defense 2 - tactical bomber 2 - level bomber 2
Allies: infantry 9 - artillery 3 - fighter 2.

TURN 5 - AXIS
German units try desperately to turn the battle on their favor. The Matilda on Somme river is destroyed and so is an infantry unit near Reims.

TURN 5 - ALLIES
This is the end. Let's destroy some enemies before conquering Amiens: a PzIIIE near Somme river, an infantry in the woods, another one in front of Paris, and a PzIVD and a PzIIA near Thierry. Take Amiens and the game is over.
