02 - Warsaw - Axis - Turn 8 of 20

September 10, 1939 - The Germans must capture Warsaw and end Polish resistance before the Allies react.

Axis: player
Allies: A.I. advanced
Turns: 20

As in the first scenario, the allied player can have a limited number of units on the field (just 15) and that's it, he cannot have more than that. So, if the axis player wipes out polish units, the enemy will be able to reinforce the objectives, and to win will take longer. Best thing would be to split army in three, spare enemy units, get adjacent to objectives a.s.a.p. and in the same turn, so the allied player cannot reinforce, and then start the carnage. But this is not possible, as enemy units tend to stand in our way, so some of them must be wiped out. At basic difficulty level, taking Siedice, in the east, is very easy, just embark an infantry unit on an air transport and disembark it in the enemy airport, then take the objective. The following game has been played with advanced a.i. difficulty level.

TURN ONE - AXIS
Turn one is pivotal as important decisions must be taken, expecially as to which units to buy. The enemy has an old fighter which however can cause serious problems to our Stukas. Buy a BF 109e, kill the enemy unit and the issue is settled. But you would spend 336 prestige points to get a unit which will be almost useless for the remainder of the game. Artificial intelligence is not so clever: occupy the only polish airport at Siedice and the enemy air unit will be blocked, absolutely useless. And so, another stuka will be available. The only enemy unit you must get rid of in the beginning is the polish infantry occupying Tomaszow, which is the key to cross Pilica river and head towards Siedice.
6th Junker 87B attacks 12th Polish infantry (0-4) Enemy fighter is not in range in first turn.
9th Wehr infantry attacks 12th Polish infantry (0-6). Allied unit destroyed.
I buy a Pioniere infantry unit to avoid rugged defense when attacking against entrenchments and cities, a SdKfz to weaken polish fighter next turn and another Stuka. I don't buy an artillery unit as the one available has only a 2 hexes range.

TURN ONE - ALLIED
Polish player retreats except for a cavalry unit which comes adjacent to a tank of mine without attacking it, and buys an antitank unit in substitution of the infantry lost in Tomaszow. The fighter comes to threaten my Stuka.
